TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Bronze is often used in statuary, sculpture, and other artistic concepts. It is an excellent metal for mounting hardware, with many available finishes. It is often used for furniture trim on reception desks, conference tables, walls panels, and ceiling panels.

ADVANTAGES

  • More corrosion resistant than brass
  • Richer looking due to its slightly red coloring

DISADVANTAGES

  • More expensive than brass
  • Can develop a patina (a green film) as a result of long exposure to moist air
  • Will deteriorate rapidly if exposed to moisture and chlorides or sulfides
  • Susceptible to "Bronze Disease" caused when chlorides and oxygen combine in a damp environment and then "attack" brass and pewter
  • Heavy and soft
